Histamine

What is a histamine?

Histamines are compounds that are involved in immune responses and gut functions.

So, what is the big deal?

Some, who find they have a "histamine intolerance," experience symptoms when they experience a build up of histamines in the body. Certain foods and additives have higher or lower amounts of histamines.

Elimination Diets

Elimination diets involve cutting out certain foods from one's diet with the intention of reducing symptoms. These diets should only be done under the guidance of a medical practitioner, for the health and safety of the individual. (This is extremely important to insure that the individual is maintaining proper levels of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, etc.)
